Sketchcards!

A few months ago, I was pleasantly surprised to receive an email from 5Finity productions asking me if I would be interested in doing some sketch cards for the amazingly talented Katie Cook's upcoming Card series 'Kitty Ditties and Pretty Ladies'. Apparently Katie had asked 5Finity to contact certain artists specifically, and I was on that list! I have never drawn sketch cards before (aside from one at a CGS Supershow back in 2009), and I was incredibly honoured that Katie had asked for me to be included. Anyway, here's what I came up with. The directions were that each card contain at least one kitten and one pin up girl. I may have bent the rules a bit. These cards will be randomly inserted in to packs of Katie's card series, among ones by many other talented artists, available soon or NOW at better comic and card retailers everywhere. Cards are drawn with pencil, ink and watercolour. Check out here for more info! 5Finity Productions Katie's Blog!

It's been a while!

I know, I know, and I'm sorry. It's been a while since I've updated this blog with anything new, but it finally happened! I was recently asked by an old high school friend to do the cover artwork for her forthcoming solo debut e.p. Talk about a honour! That artist is the lovely and talented Alison Maira. She's always been terribly talented, especially where music is concerned, having performed as a member of two well known Vancouver based bands; the Feminists and later the Parlour Steps. She figured it was time to strike out on her own, and kindly asked if I would do something for the cover of the album. How could I say no? She told me the name of the album, and with some great direction from her, this is what we came up with...

I think it turned out fairly well, and Alison's happy with it, so that's all that matters! You can find out more about Alison, her e.p. and all sorts of other fun goodies by visiting her site (okmaira.com). Go buy the cd, you fools! It's great! (Seeing as how I'm tight with the artist, I got to hear an advance version. So suck on that! ;) ).
Also, Alison and her husband Mike also welcomed their first daughter, Elisabeth Jane in to the world this past week! So definitely go and buy the album. They have an extra mouth to feed now! DO IT!!!!
